The Second Step
"family" is comprised of our devoted staff, generous supporters, dedicated volunteers, and the many brave families who make their way out of violence to build new lives.
History
The Second Step was founded in 1992 by four women with the dream of creating a new kind of program for survivors of domestic violence.

Funding Sources
The Second Step funds its $1.8 million annual operating budget through a combination of public grants and private philanthropic support. The Second Step relies on the generosity of numerous corporate and business partners, and the work of The Second Step is made possible by support from numerous private foundations.
