Prevention Education

The Second Step supports domestic abuse survivors and works to prevent future abuse through education, outreach, and community engagement. We believe everyone deserves to live safely and with dignity. Through compassionate, survivor-centered services, we help survivors reclaim their lives and foster abuse-free communities. Our Prevention Education Program shifts cultural norms, reduces stigma, and increases access to information through interactive workshops, outreach, and awareness events. We aim to prevent domestic violence and build shared understanding of safety, equity, and respect. We believe everyone can play a role in recognizing and responding to abuse. That’s why we collaborate not only with professionals across sectors—like education, healthcare, housing, financial services, wellness, and human services—but also with community members directly. By meeting people where they are and working within trusted spaces, we make domestic violence information, tools, and resources more accessible. We develop tailored trainings that reflect the lived experiences, needs, and priorities of the communities we support and work alongside.
