The Second Step works to prevent domestic violence by equipping individuals and communities with the knowledge and skills to create safer environments. Our Prevention Education Program builds understanding around power, control, harm, and healing, and provides practical tools people can use in real-life situations. Through interactive workshops, awareness events, and trainings, we increase access to information, reduce stigma, and support healthier, more respectful relationships. We believe prevention works best when it is part of everyday life and when people know how to recognize abuse and respond with care. That’s why we bring prevention education into the spaces where people live, work, and gather, including clinical and human service settings and community spaces. By meeting people where they are, we engage educators, professionals, community members, and local partners committed to building safer, more informed, and more connected communities.
The Safe Community Ambassador volunteer opportunity is a unique way to get more involved with your community while supporting safety, healing, and access to resources.
