Helping survivors of domestic violence heal and thrive in safe and supportive communities.
Our Vision
Every intimate partner relationship is safe and healthy.
What We Do
The Second Step provides free, trauma-informed services for survivors of domestic violence throughout Greater Boston and beyond. We are dedicated to ending the cycle of abuse with our wraparound support, including safety planning, legal services, counseling, housing stabilization, support groups, and community education.
Our History
Founded in 1992, The Second Step has been dedicated to ending the cycle of abuse throughout Greater Boston for more than 30 years. In that time, we have grown from our roots in transitional housing for survivors of domestic violence to provide a comprehensive continuum of services today delivered across three program areas: Legal Services, Intervention and Advocacy, and Prevention Education.
Annually, we help stabilize over 400 adult survivors of intimate partner violence, helping to break the cycle of abuse for over 600 children.
The Second Step stands together with survivors, helping to carve their unique path toward a life free from abuse, while we’re also raising awareness of domestic violence to help create healthier, safer communities.
Our Services
Our tailored services guide survivors on their unique path to safety, stability, healing, and hope.
Together, we empower survivors to build a brighter, more secure future.
